He is the son of Jackie Bradley Sr., a bus driver in Richmond, Virginia. He is currently twenty-two years old and engaged to Erin Helring.
Bradley graduated from Prince George High School in 2008. He was anything but a normal baseball player. Bradley played baseball for the Prince George varsity Royals and was named to the 2008 Virginia AAA All-State team. While playing on the school team, Bradley also played for the Richmond Braves travel team.
Bradley went to the University of South Carolina where he would still play baseball. In 2010, South Carolina won the College World Series and Bradley was named Most Outstanding Player. Bradley decided to skip his senior year at the University of South Carolina and enter the MLB draft.
In 2011, Bradley was drafted 40th overall to the Boston Red Sox. Bradley made his debut in August with the Class-A Short Season Lowell Spinners. He was named Defensive Player of the Year by the Red Sox organization.
By the Baseball Major League opening day in 2013, Bradley was starting in left field at Yankee Stadium. That game, the Red Sox won eight to two. Bradley was hitless but had three walks, scored two runs, and had one RBI.
Bradley has been struggling at the plate, but he is doing pretty well on defense. David Ortiz, a star for the Red Sox, is injured for the time being. People suspect that when David Ortiz comes back, the Red Sox will send Bradley back down to the Minor League.
Jackie Bradley, Jr. is one of few that have been or are in a major league organization from Prince George, Virginia. This is not something that happens everyday. With hard work and dedication, Bradley was able to accomplish his dreams and play professional baseball.
